Terms of Service
Last updated 3 September 2026
1ife.app sells private storage for one person's life: photos, files, notes, music and the small daily records around them. These terms are the agreement between you and us. They are written plainly on purpose — if a clause is unclear, ask before you agree to it.
1The service
An account gives you space on our servers, a private workspace for every section of the product, and a page at 1ife.app/your-handle that shows only what you choose to publish. Every feature is included on every plan, including the free one. What you pay for is room, and the transfer that goes with it.
We may add, change or retire parts of the product. If we retire something you are using and it holds your data, we will tell you first and give you a way to take that data with you.
2Your account
You need a working email address, and you must be old enough to enter a contract where you live — at minimum 13, and 20 in Thailand without a guardian's consent. One person, one account; you are responsible for everything done through it.
Choose a strong password and keep it to yourself. We store passwords hashed with argon2id and can never read them, which also means we cannot recover one for you — we can only send a reset link to your email. Two-factor authentication is available in settings and we recommend it. If you believe someone else has your password, change it and revoke the other sessions under Settings → Devices on your page.
Handles are first come, first served. Some are reserved because they are, or could be mistaken for, part of the site. Changing a handle changes your public address and the old one stops working for other people's links.
3Your content stays yours
Everything you upload remains yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store your files, to move them between our servers and our storage provider, to make thumbnails and previews so the product can show them, and to serve them to the people you have shared them with. Nothing else. We do not train anything on your files, we do not scan them to build a profile, and we do not sell them or the facts about them.
Files are private by default. A file becomes reachable by someone else only when you publish it or create a share link, and revoking that link takes it back.
4What you may not store or do
No content that is illegal where you are or where our servers are — in particular, nothing sexual involving minors, which we report and remove without notice. No material you have no right to distribute. No malware, phishing pages, or anything designed to attack someone else's systems.
The service is personal storage, not a content delivery network and not a public file host. Do not resell your space, do not use an account as a backend for someone else's traffic, and do not try to work around the transfer limits with extra accounts.
Do not attempt to reach another account's data, probe for weaknesses without asking us first, or automate the site in ways that degrade it for other people. If you find a security flaw, write to us before you tell anyone else; we will not pursue anyone who reports one in good faith and gives us time to fix it.
Anyone can report content that breaks these rules, and we act on reports we can verify. We remove what has to be removed and tell the account holder what happened, unless the law says otherwise.
5Plans, payment and renewal
Prices, storage and transfer for each plan are on the plans page and are the same numbers the system enforces. Paid plans renew automatically — monthly, or yearly at half the twelve-month price — until you cancel. Cancel any time from Plan & Billing; you keep what you paid for until the end of the period you have paid.
Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax your country adds.
If we change a price, it takes effect at your next renewal and we will tell you before it does. Because the product is storage — a cost we incur the moment you use it — we do not refund time already served. If something went genuinely wrong, write to us; we would rather fix it than argue about it.
6Limits, and what happens when you reach them
Each plan carries a storage quota, a monthly transfer allowance and a maximum size for a single file. When you reach your storage quota, new uploads stop; everything already stored stays readable and downloadable. When you reach your transfer allowance, downloads are throttled until the month turns over.
If a payment fails, the subscription enters a short grace period before it drops to the free plan. Being over the free quota after that means the account becomes read-only — we do not delete anything to make it fit. We will not delete a paying customer's data for non-payment without at least 30 days' written notice to the address on the account.
7Deleting things, and deleting the account
Deleting a file moves it to trash, where it stays recoverable for 30 days before it is removed for good. Deleting your account removes your content on the same schedule, and removes your handle from the public site immediately.
You can export everything at any time; you do not need our permission or our tools to get your own data out.
8Suspension
We may suspend an account that breaks section 4, that is being used to attack the service, or that we are legally required to suspend. Except where the law forbids it, we will say why, and we will give you a way to retrieve your data unless retrieving it is itself the problem.
9Availability, backups and what we do not promise
We run this carefully — private-by-default object storage with versioning, a database with per-account isolation enforced by the database itself, and off-site backups — but we do not offer a service level guarantee, and no service is immune to failure. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot bear to lose. That is true here and it is true of every provider that tells you otherwise.
The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10Changes to these terms
We will post changes here with a new date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights, we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use the account after that is how you accept it; if you would rather not, cancel and export.
11Law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of Thailand, where the service is operated from, without displacing consumer protections you have where you live.
Write to support@1ife.app for anything — a question about a clause, a report of content that breaks section 4, or a security finding.
